Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 25, 2026 · Version: 1.0

This Privacy Policy explains what data ReelShowing (operated by Inet Innovation Inc.) collects, how we use it, and what choices you have. By using ReelShowing you also agree to our Terms of Service.

1. Data we collect

Account data: name, email address, hashed password, profile image (if you sign in with a third-party identity provider), the timestamps + versions of legal documents you accepted, and verification status.

User Content: the videos you upload, the audio you optionally upload, transcripts produced by our transcription service, AI-generated clip suggestions, your edits, and the rendered video output we produce for you. We also store the brand colors and logo image you save in your brand kit.

Usage data: records of upload events, transcription jobs, clip suggestions, render submissions and outcomes, and free-tier quota usage. Stored in our database so we can render your past projects, enforce quotas, and improve the product.

Technical data: IP address (for security and rate limiting), browser user-agent string, and minimal server logs. We use first-party analytics to understand aggregate usage patterns — these do not use third-party cookies and do not identify you personally.

Communications: emails we send you (welcome, verification, password reset, render complete, quota warnings) and any messages you send our support address.

What we don’t collect: we do not sell personal data. We do not run third-party advertising trackers on the application. We do not store your password — only a salted hash.

2. How we use data

  • To operate the service — process your videos, run transcription, generate clips, render output.
  • To authenticate you and protect against abuse (rate limiting, fraud detection).
  • To send transactional emails — verification, password reset, render-complete, quota warning, billing receipts.
  • To respond to support requests and legal requests including DMCA notices.
  • To improve the service — aggregate, de-identified usage patterns inform product decisions.
  • To comply with applicable law.

3. AI processing

To generate clip suggestions, we send your video’s transcript text (not the video itself) to a third-party AI model provider. That provider processes the transcript to return clip moments and, under our commercial agreement, does not use your content to train models. We do not send the AI model provider any of your account data or other users’ content.

4. Categories of service providers

We rely on a small number of third-party service providers to operate ReelShowing. Each one is a data processor acting under our instructions and receives only the data necessary for its role. The categories are:

  • Web hosting and edge network — runs the application and serves it to your browser.
  • Database — stores your account record, project metadata, and usage logs.
  • Object storage — stores your uploaded videos, rendered output, brand assets, and any music you upload.
  • Speech-to-text transcription — receives your uploaded video to produce a transcript.
  • AI clip selection — receives transcript text only (no video) to identify the best moments.
  • Video rendering — receives a secure URL to your source video so it can produce the final rendered clip.
  • Royalty-free music library — the source of the curated music tracks you can choose from in the editor.
  • Email delivery — sends transactional emails (welcome, verification, password reset, render-complete, DMCA acknowledgments).
  • Payment processing — when paid plans are active, processes your subscription. Card data goes directly to the payment processor; we receive only subscription status.
  • Identity provider for optional social sign-in — verifies your identity when you choose to sign in with a third-party account instead of email/password.
  • Application error monitoring — receives technical error reports (no audio or video content).
  • Rate-limit and security infrastructure — protects the service from abuse.

If you have a specific need for the identity of a particular processor (for example, to satisfy your own compliance audit), contact us at hello@reelshowing.com.

5. Cookies & similar technologies

We use a single first-party cookie to keep you signed in (the session cookie). We do not use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies on the application. The marketing site (reelshowing.com) may use the standard session cookie of its underlying platform if you interact with forms.

6. Data retention

Uploaded videos: stored in our object storage with a 30-day automatic deletion lifecycle.

Rendered output: 90 days automatic deletion.

User-uploaded music: retained while your account is active; removed on account deletion.

Account data: retained while your account exists, plus a reasonable period after closure to support billing, fraud prevention, and legal obligations.

DMCA records: retained indefinitely as part of our Safe Harbor compliance and repeat-infringer policy.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate data.
  • Delete your account and associated data.
  • Export your User Content (download your videos and rendered output).
  • Opt out of marketing emails (transactional emails will continue).

To exercise these rights, email hello@reelshowing.com from the address on your account. We will respond within 30 days. California residents have additional rights under the CCPA; EU/UK residents have rights under the GDPR. We honor verified requests under both.

8. Security

We host on industry-standard providers, use TLS for all connections, salt and hash passwords with bcrypt, and apply rate limiting and access controls. No system is perfectly secure; we cannot guarantee that unauthorized access will never occur. If we ever experience a data breach affecting your information, we will notify you in accordance with applicable law.

9. Children

ReelShowing is not directed to children under 18 and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has provided personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

10. International transfers

ReelShowing operates from the United States. By using the service from outside the U.S., you understand that your data will be processed in the U.S. and other countries where our service providers operate.

11. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by email or in-app notice; the current version is shown at the top of this page.
