ReelShowing respects the intellectual property rights of others and expects its users to do the same. This DMCA Policy describes how to report claims of copyright infringement on the service and how we handle them under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act of 1998 (“DMCA“), 17 U.S.C. § 512.
How to submit a takedown notice
If you are a copyright owner (or authorized to act on behalf of one) and believe that material accessible through ReelShowing infringes your copyright, you may submit a takedown notice. The fastest path is our online form:
Online form: https://reelshowing.com/dmca-notice/
You may also email a notice to dmca@reelshowing.com or mail one to our DMCA agent (address below). Notices must include all of the following elements required by 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3):
- A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or person authorized to act on their behalf.
- Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed, or a representative list if multiple works are at one site.
- Identification of the material claimed to be infringing or the subject of infringing activity, with information reasonably sufficient to allow us to locate it — in particular, a URL on the ReelShowing service.
- Your contact information: name, address, telephone number, and email address.
- A statement that you have a good faith belief that the use of the material is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on the owner’s behalf.
Notices missing any required element may be invalid under the DMCA and we may not act on them. The online form forces each field to be present.
Designated DMCA agent
Our designated agent to receive DMCA notifications is:
DMCA Agent — Inet Innovation Inc. (dba ReelShowing)
Email: dmca@reelshowing.com
Mailing address: available on request to the email above.
The designated agent is registered with the U.S. Copyright Office at copyright.gov/dmca-directory.
What happens after we receive a notice
- You will receive an automated acknowledgment with a reference ID.
- We will review the notice for completeness and validity.
- If the notice is complete and appears valid, we will expeditiously remove or disable access to the identified material and notify the user who posted it.
- We will retain the notice as part of our compliance audit trail.
Counter-notification
If you are a user whose content was removed under a DMCA notice and you believe the removal was a mistake or misidentification, you may submit a counter-notification under 17 U.S.C. § 512(g). Email it to dmca@reelshowing.com with the following:
- Your physical or electronic signature.
- Identification of the material that was removed and its location before removal.
- A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good faith belief the material was removed as a result of mistake or misidentification.
- Your name, address, telephone number, and a statement consenting to the jurisdiction of the federal court for the judicial district in which your address is located (or, if outside the U.S., for the Southern District of New York), and that you will accept service of process from the original notifier or their agent.
If we receive a valid counter-notification we will forward it to the original notifier and, after the statutory waiting period, may restore the material unless the notifier files suit.
Repeat-infringer policy
We maintain a repeat-infringer policy. Users who are subject to multiple valid DMCA takedown notices (typically three) will have their accounts terminated. We may apply this policy in other appropriate circumstances at our discretion.
Misrepresentation
Knowingly materially misrepresenting that material is infringing, or that material was removed by mistake, can result in liability for damages under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f). Please consider this before submitting a notice or counter-notice.
